A Place at the Table has just announced its grand opening in downtown Raleigh January 8, 2018!
This pay-what-you-can nonprofit cafe’s mission is to provide community and healthy food for all regardless of means. Located at 300 W Hargett Street, Raleigh, NC 27601, this cafe is modeled after the world famous One World Everybody Eats Foundation, which has now inspired the opening of more than 60 of these kinds of cafes across the United States.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, this cafe allows its visitors to pay what they can and pay for their meal in 1 of 5 ways: pay what they can afford, pay a suggested donation, pay what they would typically pay plus a donation, pay for someone else’s full meal or to pay by volunteering.
A Place at the Table will offer a “laid-back, coffee shop atmosphere,” where it’s patrons can enjoy an extensive menu of food and beverage. A few items to look out for are the delicious buttermilk buscuits with sage sausage gravy, the smokey chipotle pimento cheese sandwich and the chai spiced waffle with butter, warm marple syrup, and whipped cream.
